About the event
We'll meet a 13th century feminist who fought for a woman’s right to choose a husband; the daring women who topped the bill at Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens in the 19th century; independent Georgian business women; and the brilliantly talented Barlow sisters at Doulton’s Lambeth Art Pottery, who were instrumental in the ceramic business and employed over 200 female workers in 1880. Finally, we'll learn about a 20th century national treasure and a cultural pioneer who, last October, was celebrated in a Blue Plaque.
Walk with Lambeth Tour Guides and women who inspire, women who entertained, women who worked and women who made their way in a man’s world.
Your guide for this walking tour will be Dr Jane Jordan, an accredited Lambeth Guide and an expert on 19th century women’s history.
