About the event
The literary tradition of the Christmas ghost story dates back to Dickensian London as well as the Victorian and Edwardian eras. The tradition remains very much alive and well today with the annual puplication of new Christmas chillers by contemporary writers, for example the recent release of the novella by Brixton born, Kim Newman (A Christmas Ghost Story).
On Friday 13th join Lambeth Tour Guides, Senina Rice and David Turnbull, on a curated walk through the local history of West Norwood, where, in tandem, the tradition of the Christmas Ghost story past and present and its leading exponents such as MR James and E Nesbit will be explored. There will also be some excerpts from David's own published uncanny stories.
Be prepared for some seasonally spooky tales of ghostly manifestations and other paranormal phenomenon, alongside the history of the area's local landmarks.
The walk begins at West Norwood Library /…
