Lambeth and the Real Windrush Generation - a new Doing Lambeth Walks podcast episode

In this episode, Lambeth Tour Guide and former Lambeth Councillor, Sonia Winifred interviews Arthur Torrington CBE of the Windrush Foundation (both pictured left at the memorial to Ignatius Sancho in Westminster Abbey.) Windrush has become a sweeping term for immigrants from the West Indies who came to the UK in the 1940s and 50s, but the real Windrush generation are specifically connected to the ship which bore that name... What are the stories of the men and women who landed at Tilbury and why were some of them initially housed in a World War II bomb shelter beneath Clapham Common?
